Jamison Odone MFA '10

Hey folks--
I'll be in the area (up from Maryland)as a guest artist at The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art this Sunday, 3/24 from 2-5pm, basically making a big drawing for the launch of their Extreme Draw On program. I'm attaching an EXTREMELY rough draft of what I'll be making but it's supposed to be something like 20' long to cover some wall-sized paper and dedicated to a dear departed friend. So--please come out and draw, watch me sink/fail/succeed, see the opening that will be happening inside the museum at the same time, bring Oliver some sort of Spiderman toy, etc.
All best, J

Here's the info for the opening and what I'll be doing from the museum's facebook page:

Two Great Workshops for Visual Artists This Saturday!!

Saturday, March 9th Make. Art. Work. presents two workshops at the University of New Haven.

Jackie Battenfield will present a Marketing Your Work workshop from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. That afternoon, from 1:30 to 4 pm, the Working with Exhibitors workshop will bring together a panel of arts professionals to teach artists how to work with exhibitors.

Jackie Battenfield is a popular speaker on the challenges of sustaining a career in the visual arts. Author of the best-selling book, The Artist's Guide: How to Make a Living Doing What You Love, she is an artist who has supported herself from art sales for over twenty years. She teaches career development programs for visual artists at the Creative Capital Foundation, and Columbia University. This workshop will identify the essential networking and promotional tools, the steps required to develop a marketing strategy based upon one's art and goals.
The afternoon session, Working with Exhibitors, will bring participating artists face to face with gallery directors and curators. Presenters will include independent curator Deborah Frizzell, Helen Kauder of Artspace, Laura Marsh of the University of New Haven, and Sophia Gevas of Silvermine Arts Center. These experts will share an abundance of information, including what they are look for in the artists they choose to exhibit, and common obstacles that artists create for themselves.

These workshops are part of a professional development series designed to support visual artists in CT who are actively showing and selling artwork in pursuit of a professional career as an artist. Artists may choose to register for one or both workshops. Tickets are $28 each or $56 for the full day. Boxed lunch tickets are an additional $10. Visit for more information and to register. This event is expected to sell-out, so pre-registration is suggested.

Make.Art.Work., Career Strategies for Visual Artists, is presented by the Arts Council of Greater New Haven, Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County, Greater Hartford Arts Council, with support from the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation.
