Linda Lyons

MarbleHead Festival of Arts Painting Exhibition  through July 4th, at Abbot Hall, in Old Marblehead (Shown: Gerry's Poppies, 12" x 12," oil on board, by Linda R. Lyons Price: $975. Honorable Mention: 2016 Festival)

Judges Commentary: "This piece is an eye-catcher, one that stands alone amidst the muted browns, grays, and blues of ocean scenes and distant landscapes. There is a bold use of paint, a specific point of view, and an everyday subject matter handled in a fresh and carefree way. It almost seems too easy at first, small and hurried, until upon further inspection you see the push and pull of translucence and opacity, the power of the cool, opaque greenery in the background, the fiery burn of flowers in the fore."

Jill Sarver

Jill Sarver ’10 was able to visit “The Floating Piers” while in Italy. She writes, “Christo himself even made an appearance! Pictures do it little justice. Absolutely magical beyond belief.”

About “The Floating Piers” : For sixteen days – June 18 through July 3, 2016 (weather permitting) – Italy’s Lake Iseo is being reimagined. 100,000 square meters of shimmering yellow fabric, carried by a modular floating dock system of 220,000 high-density polyethylene cubes, undulate with the movement of the waves as The Floating Piers rise just above the surface of the water. The Floating Piers is the latest and last work of artist duo Christo and Jean-Claude. The floating yellow roads extend from the pedestrian streets of Sulzano, connecting the islands of San Paolo and Monte Isola.

Perhi Fenninger

Perhi writes, "My demonstration for Warhol inspired POP art lesson for 8th grade..they chose their own subject..but since Warhol would have made portaits of our dearly beloved parted Prince..I enjoyed expressing him for this fun Color Theory project..I call it Pop Art Prince prints."

Missy Sheldrake

Missy writes, "I wanted to share an exciting milestone in my writing adventure. On Amazon, authors can enroll their books in the Kindle Unlimited program. This program allows readers who subscribe to KU for $10/month to read enrolled books for free. Authors get paid by the number of pages read (usually a little less than half a penny per page). We even get a little graph that shows us how many pages have been read. Yesterday, for the first time ever, I hit 10,000 pages read for the month so far! Ten thousand! I can't believe it! I'm doing a happy dance!"
