An exhibition of artworks from the collection of Western Connecticut State University will be on view at the Higgins Hall Gallery in Danbury, CT from February 24th through March 16th.
The works are assembled from various collections at the midtown campus, most notably the Truman Warner Anthropological Collection from the archives at the Haas Library. This stunning, unique collection consists primarily of ceremonial masks and hand-carved musical instruments from Africa, Asia and New Guinea . During his travels in the 1960s through the 1980s, Truman Warner collected many of the pieces for use in his anthropology classes.
Other selections in this exhibition include a diverse group of paintings dating from the early Twentieth Century to the present, along with a collection of Twentieth Century prints. In various methods of etching, woodblock, silkscreen and lithography, artists such as Robert Natkin, Leonard Baskin and Will Barnett are represented.
The Higgins Hall Gallery is located on the first floor, room 101, in Higgins Hall on the White Street campus in Danbury , Connecticut . It is open to the public during this show, February 24 – March 16, Mondays through Thursdays, 12 – 4 pm.
