POSITION: Program Coordinator
OVERVIEW
The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut (formally the Housatonic
Valley Cultural Alliance) is a leader in supporting a vibrant arts and
culture community in Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield
Counties. The Cultural Alliance offers the Accessible Art project, which
facilitates approx. 25 visual art exhibits throughout the year in
partnership with public and private organizations; DisH Photography
exhibit in partnership with the Danbury Farmer’s Market Community
Collaborative; 3-5 workshops per year geared toward the professional
arts community; Roundtable discussions for nonprofit arts professionals;
maintain an extensive online calendar of regional events; distribute 20
newsletters to online subscribers; and producers of a spring and fall
brochure for wide-spread distribution.
We are seeking a dynamic individual with exceptional administrative
and coordination skills to manage its programs and volunteers.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Program Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating all
operational facets of programs. Responsibilities include coordination,
training, and supervision of volunteer staff; ongoing program
management, including scheduling, development, implementation, and
marketing. This position requires a person who is self-motivated, detail
oriented, highly organized with energy and creativity, and dedicated to
strengthening the arts as vital contributors to strong and healthy
communities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Administrative: Responsible for periodic reports, budgets and
records on program activities for management. Evaluates program
effectiveness to develop improved methods; analyzes results and
recommends and/or takes appropriate action; Assists the Director with
other administrative tasks.
II. Supervisory: Supervises 3-5 community volunteers and supports165
members, provides necessary training and technical support to ensure
projects are being completed in a safe, professional and productive
manner.
III. Volunteers: Responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, coordination and performance of volunteers.
IV. Program Support:
Develops and schedules program work plan in accordance with
specifications and funding limitations; oversees daily operations and
coordinates activities of program; determines priorities.
Develops and facilitates workshops, meetings, and program
activities; coordinates logistics, scheduling and participant
communications.
Interface with other staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies and procedures.
Recruits program participants utilizing most appropriate
promotional or marketing methods, such as outreach, online marketing,
social media, brochures or presentations at meetings.
Interacts and maintains relationships with members, organizations,
businesses, government officials and the general public in facilitating
program objectives.
V. Marketing: Follows appropriate protocols for marketing all program
activities; coordinates, administers, and distributes the bi-monthly
newsletter
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
o Bachelor's degree and two years administrative/coordinator program
experience; OR, five years of progressively responsible
administrative/coordinator program experience
Experience
o Non-profit experience, working with volunteers and/or marketing experience preferred, but not required.
Proficiency in the use of computers
o Excellent computer, web and software skills on PC platforms.
Personal characteristics
o Should possess personal characteristics generally recognized as
essential for a professional employee, including integrity, initiative,
emotional maturity, dependability, courtesy, good judgment, and the
ability to work cooperatively with others.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The Program Coordinator works in the office and event environments both on and off-site.
HOURS/SALARY:
This is a part-time 12 month position with vacation time. Hours are
flexible (in order to meet the needs of the position) and will require
some weekend and evening assignments. $15.00/hour
