Alumni Show at Darien Library through May 31st
The Darien
library opened its newest free art exhibit, which features the landscape
paintings of local artist Linda Lyons Rynkowski, on Thursday, April 12.
The show runs through Thursday, May 31. There was an opening reception
on Friday, May 18, from 6-8.
Lyons graduated in May with an
master's in fine arts degree in painting from Western Connecticut State
University; she was also asked in January to join the Artist Residency
Program at the Vermont Studio Center.
"When engaged in
painting from observation, I seek to evoke the sense of atmospheric
phenomenon found in nature, creating a dialogue in which the subject
transcends the canvas, evoking a sense of deep, intimate space, the
perception of color as light," she said.
Lyons holds a
bachelor's of fine arts in graphic design from the College of Fine Arts
at Boston University and has been awarded graduate certificates from her
studies in the arts from the Yale Summer Graduate Program in Graphic
Design, formerly of Brissago, Switzerland, as well as the Maine Summer
Institute of Graphic Design at the Portland School of Art. She has also
served as an adjunct professor at Southern Connecticut State University.
As always, the exhibit is free.
