Tips for hanging art:

AS artists you know the general rules of hanging, but an important rule worth repeating...

In general, artwork should be hung so that the center point of the painting is at about eye level for the ‘average’ height person.  Of course there are exceptions and breaking the rules in art can be allowed – but, only once you know the ‘rules’ of course.   Make sure your artwork is ready to hang with appropriate wire for the weight of your artwork or with D-rings for heavier works.

Pat Barkman

Lieber: Newtown.

Pat writes, "I will host a "Meet the Author" reading a book signing in Newtown's C. H. Booth Library on December 3rd at 6:30 p.m.. Please come.  There will be catered food, wine and cheese and a reading and available books for sale and signing.

I will be ordering copies of the book this next week.  There are two versions as well as ebooks available at Amazon.  The paperback black and white version is $15.00 and the paperback colored version is $50.00. let me know which one you would like."

About the Book:
Lieber, by Newtown author and artist Patty Barkman, weaves the story of her long marriage to Leon Barkman with her own autobiography and fascinating memories of the couple’s travels and travails, as well as their richly colored friendships. The book also reveals Patty’s wrenching experience of the Sandy Hook massacre, which followed Leon’s death by 83 dark days. As two young adventurers and iconoclasts come together in Salzburg in 1965, a story of love and loss unfolds with wit, joy, piercing grief, and moving accounts of Patty’s highly attuned perceptions of natural phenomena and beauty. As Newtown seeks to heal itself so, too, does the author. Lieber is her gift to all those who suffer loss, as well as a poignant expression of hope and spirit. All profits from the sale of this book will go to the Newtown Caregiver Cause, as a tribute to those who have given selflessly to help others.
