$1000.00 Working Art Grant/Purchase Award

The Working Art Grant/Purchase Award is a meager one-time purchase award intended to disperse small but vitalizing bursts of funding to support an artist's ongoing art making process.

The Working Art Grant/Purchase Award is available to all domestic and international artists working in all media. As a stipulation for eligibility to receive the Working Art Grant/Purchase Award, we ask that each prospective recipient be willing to exchange one of their works of our later mutual agreement in return. We will reimburse the artist's shipping costs.

If you are interested in being considered for one of these awards, please send us 5 digital images/files of recent work, (total mail size no larger than 2 MB please), or web links to video/multimedia, via email. No written proposals or CV's are required unless the artist would like to include them. Instead, please simply include in the body of your email current contact information, and send to: grant@workingartist.org. There is no application form.

There is an application review fee of $25.00, payable here:
which helps offset the costs of this effort to fund meaningful work by serious artists.

Grant recipients agree by submitting their completed application to limited use of their images or other representation of their artwork and general information to be featured on this site and corresponding promotional media. All rights will be retained by the artists.

Applications for the next deadline of the Working Art Grant/Purchase Awards must be submitted by midnight of March 31, 2015. All participants will be notified of results.

Isabelle Day and Tom Reilly

Landscapes by Reilly, Day, & Jessel

Landscapes by Reilly, Day, & Jessel
The Washington Art Association presents paintings by local artists Isabelle Day of Milford, Robert Jessel of Torrington
and Thomas Reilly of Norwalk. This exhibition is a re-examination of traditional subjects in untraditional ways.

We are all encompassed by the landscape and the objects of our daily lives. often unappreciated in the rush of a busy day. At the Washington Art Association we can pause, observe and study three different portrayals of the land and objects surrounding us.

Isabelle Day focuses on simplifying shapes and using rich color to focus on the essential presence of her subjects. Robert Jessel on the other hand, utilizes patterns and distortions to remove preconceptions of space and push recognition to the limit. Thomas Reilly brings focus to the ordinary, allowing light to clarify and ennoble his landscapes. He treats spaces and places with the care of portraiture.

Please join us at the opening reception on Saturday, March 7, from 4 - 6 pm.

The exhibition runs from March 7 through March 28.

Gallery Hours: Tues. - Sat. 10 am - 5 pm
