Back by popular demand! Jim Grace, Executive Director of the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston, will lead a workshop to help you with the multifaceted business of being a public artist. The day will focus on contracts, budgets, insurance, and incorporation. Sessions will be lead by a lawyer, insurance broker, a public art studio manager, and a practicing public artist. Inviting the community to participate in "WPKN SHORTS"
To be presented during the spring series of "MUSIC ON FILM"
WPKN and City Lights Gallery are inviting artists and filmmakers to submit short films for consideration to screen before the scheduled feature film. Submissions should be in DVD format to exceed no more than 30 minutes. Documentaries, comedy, fiction, commentary, animation and music videos welcome.

The Westport Arts Center seeks an individual with proven marketing and communication management skills. The successful candidate will manage the development, implementation and output of the annual marketing and communications action plan across all departments. Margaret Grimes Retrospective
A retrospective exhibition featuring a body of work spanning more than 40 years by landscape painter Margaret Grimes will run from Thursday, Feb. 14, through Thursday, March 14, 2013, at The Gallery at Higgins Hall on the WCSU Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. An opening reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 14 in the gallery. The public is invited to the reception and to view Grimes’ work. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from noon to 4 p.m.
Grimes also will discuss her work in an art slide lecture at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5. The talk will be in Viewing Room 1 of White Hall on the WCSU Midtown campus. The public is invited.

Opening Night: Saturday, February 23, 7 to 10 pm
All photographers are invited to submit up to three works for consideration in this year’s juried photography exhibition at the Hygienic Art Galleries. This will be third iteration of The f-Stops Here. We have two talented artists lending their eyes and expertise for the exhibition. Co-founder/associate curator of the Alexy von Schlippe Gallery of Art and visual artist David Madasci will serve as our guest juror. Photographer and Associate Professor of Art at Connecticut College Ted Hendrickson will curate the selected pieces.
Cash Prizes will be awarded.
Submission info:
Artists may submit up to 3 pieces of black & white or color photography for consideration. All work must be for sale. No works previously shown at Hygienic will be accepted. All works must be suitably framed with wires and ready for hanging. All metal frames must have hangers and wire, NO CLIPS. Work submitted must not exceed 48” in either direction. All work must remain for the duration of the show. Hygienic will retain 30% of sales and collect 6% CT state sales tax. Hygienic will not be responsible for unclaimed work.
Receiving Dates: Friday, February 15, 11am - 4pm and
Saturday, February 16, 11am to 4pm
Entry fees: $15 for single entry, $25 for two entries, $30 for three entries
